The Final Trials – Day 1
My hand hurts.
It’s not often my hand hurts just from writing, but today was a terrible day to be a right hand. More specifically, if you are the index finger of Tan Jiann Meng’s right hand, you will not enjoy the first day of grueling trials. It is a day filled with fun such as the Bahasa Melayu Paper 1, which involves 2 hours and 15 minutes of writing, and the Bahasa Melayu Paper 2, which involves 2 hours and 15 minutes of writing again followed by 15 more minutes of not just writing, but panicky writing.
Why so terrible? Well, firstly, the first thing I wrote all day turned out to be completely wrong. An essay in Bahagian A of BM K1 has this huge diagram about pelajar cemerlang, telling you all the ciri-ciri like tidak berputus asa and berkemahiran tinggi. Me being the smart one, I immediately launched into a 350 word tirade about what a pelajar cemerlang is, and what they must have in order to contribute to the negara. After I finished I read the question again… which states that you need to write the karangan about kepentingan pelajar cemerlang kepada negara.
It worked out in the end where I rushed through the 2nd karangan and rewrote the first one in a frenzied state.
Paper 2 was a crazy, crazy tough paper which involves you guessing a lot of stuff and praying you remember things correctly. The best part is that you are asked to write about the judul novel in the last section. After about 10 minutes of guessing I finally decided that the only thing which made sense was the judul was either the title or the book cover of the novel… so most probably the title. But two minutes later our BM teacher walks in and tells us that judul means title. There goes my smug feeling.
Sejarah was… sejarah. Luckily Paper 1 is mostly guessing and praying and every two hour spent on studying for that paper nets you about an extra 1 mark, so I just didn’t study for it at all. Hopefully all my studying effort towards Paper 2 will pay off in huge dividends thus making me look extremely smart in Sejarah even though I’m just studying from a list of tips by our teacher. Ssshhhh don’t tell anyone otherwise the high marks I get won’t seem very impressive :(
