  • MSSD, or Learning to Wait

    0
    It’s been almost 2 weeks since I last posted…

Or rather, it feels like 2 weeks. But really it’s more like one.

First, MSSD. Wednesday. I woke up quite early, which means 5.30 am (but they should call it pm…it’s too dark to be am), then went to school. There were a bunch of us waiting around, “talking”, and staying awake. We left in 2 vans for the Shah Alam swimming stadium (but I never really memorized the name of the place).

First impressions when I arrived? The place was impressive. 50 metre pool looked good.

Second impressions? The seats are filled with… something. Something small, numerous and brown. We sat on newspapers for the next few days.

Third impressions? The pool was not cold. That really, really suprised me. I was expecting to jump in and feel the chill on my body straight away, and then complain to everyone about the temperature and generally be sarcastic. Instead, I jumped in and felt only numb. Because the pool wasn’t cold.

    It was freezing.

Anyway, I did a few laps of the pool. It was my first time swimming the 50 metres too -.-

About 8.30 or so the events started. I can remember the first event, where most of the girls finished in 1.5 minutes, but there was this girl in lane 3 who took 4.5 minutes. The whole stadium was cheering her on, Malaysian-style. As in, silence, followed by applause when she finished, then talking.

That was event 101. Mine was event 126. To my utter and complete dismay, it took about 15 minutes to finish 101, since there were multiple heats and some people were just slow.

    Minutes passed.

    Then hours passed.

(lots of talking with people here)

    Finally, it was 10 am.

    11am

    12noon.

    Lunch break!

This kind, kind mother of a swimmer (I forget who >.>) bought 30 hamburgers for us. Sooo kind. Best part was that there were only 17 of us. Second helpings :D

Off tangent here a little, but can you imagine ordering 30 burgers in McDonalds?

Cashier: Welcome ma’am, how can I help you today?
Kind, kind mum: 30 cheeseburgers, to go, please.
    Cashier: 0.0;;

Then us big, mature, responsible teenagers walked over to a nearby Tesco mall and proceeded to eat some more.

Back to the stadium at 1pm, then warmup, then back to the seats again.

    (insert more waiting here)

    Event 126 happened at about 3pm I think. 50m 16-18 boys backstroke. I got 25 of 26, with 3 more absent.

Oh well, I hated backstroke anyways.

Then more waiting then I went home. It was almost 7 already, which meant I’d been outside my house for more than 12 hours. T.T

Next day was exactly the same, except I was in event 206. Only one hour of waiting! And I got 22 of 27 in 50m breaststroke, so I didn’t feel too bad about myself.

    And that’s that.

I can run 100 metres in less that 15 seconds.
I can jump more than 3.5 metres forwards.
    I can create history.

In other news, several pigs were seen flying over KDU. My feet also feel cold. Some speculate it could be due to hell freezing up.

  • SAT, rhythm, emo and 17

Well it’s been a while since a proper update on my life, yes?

Uno: I sat for my SAT (pun not intended…Ok fine, it was) on Jan 24 ’09…the results are out already! Scores:

    Critical Reading: 770
    Mathematics: 740
    Writing: 620 (!!)

That gives a total of 2130; a rather good score. But geez, my writing score is kinda sad. Look at it. I scored a 7/12 for my essay, which is pretty damn lousy :( It seems that I might be retaking this test, but hopefully I won’t have to, since it IS pretty annoying to sit for a four-hour test.

    Duo:

I own it now :]. It cost a pretty bundle, it did. Seven hundred and eighty bucks for this giant monster, but mannnnn, it is SO worth it. The party fun you get from playing with friends is priceless, and so is making fun of their singing.

You might be shaking your head and thinking… RM780!?!?! Ridiculous! But I only paid 200 bucks, the rest was shared between my bro, sis and mum. Kind souls. Bless them. etc.

Tres: Since someone unloaded their troubles onto me, I have this to say to all those people who are ‘suffering’.

So, your friends got you down? You people fighting? you know what you need to do right? Get back and talk to your friends! Seriously. Talk to them about what they think of you. Do so calmly. DO NOT CRY, DO NOT SHOUT at them.

Tell your boy/girlfriend. That’s the point of it after all. Share with them your worries and your strifes (ok, ok, enough puns). What? You think they will view you as silly? You think they will agree with what your friends said? Why would they? If they thought of you like that, why are you two still together?

Oh so now you want to break up? Why? Because you think you’re not good enough for him/her? STUPID. Don’t let other people rule over you. You are yourself, and there is no right/wrong way to act if it’s not illegal. You a bookworm? Study all you want, don’t listen to people calling you a nerd. You act fake? Why would you act fake if that’s normal for you? Don’t give in to how people think you should act, do what you want to do.

At the end of the day, you can still make new friends, right?

    Quadro
    : Ahhh, I’m 17! A milestone age. It’s gonna be a long year… but a good year.

You know, I finally understand why people can write angry blogposts like “betrayed!” and “lost my trust” and so on.

Lesson learned: Don’t spy on people. Please don’t.
